Trying to decide if it's commercially viable to produce a stand-alone tourism guide (in English) in late 2016 / early 2017. It's certainly a beautiful country with a lot of tourism potential!
There is such a dearth of information about GB, I thought I'd share a guide I recently discovered by doing a google.pt search.
It's in pdf format, but I found it a bit useful:
Headed to GB in December, so I was happy to find anything!
Has anyone recently traveled overland from Guinea Bissau to Guinea? If anyone has any recent info or idea of timings and places to stop to overnight, how the border control is, security etc, I really appreciate it. I'm planning to go north via Gabu, and then enter Guinea and head to the Fouta-Djalon region, and understand its quite a time-consuming route.
So it sounds like the consulate in Zig is the best place to pick up a GB visa -- but does anyone know what days of the week it's open? I'm working under the assumption that it's Monday - Friday (and closes by 2/2:30 every day) -- but it'll save me a bit of hassle if it's open on Saturdays, so figured I'd see if anyone knew!
Practical information on travel between Banjul and Bolama, including Casamance and Bissau, following on from last year's trip from Agadir to Banjul (https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/forums/africa/senegal/trip-report-agadir-to-banjul}
Here's this year's trip report with the usual thanks to all previous posters whose info helped me plan :
This year I flew back to Banjul from Birmingham as its a bit cheaper than Manchester.(Thomas Cook, £278 return). Good currency exchange rates at Trust…
I am moving to to Bissau for two years in the next couple of weeks and I was wondering if anybody could help me by answering a few questions please? I have obviously already looked on Google but there is really no information at all about the country. I am not expecting replies en masse as I know not many people go and this is a forum for travellers and not expats but any help would be much appreciated. Just for context, I speak Portuguese and I have never been to Sub-Saharan Africa…
I was just wandering if anyone had any up-to-date tips or considerations on the ferry from Bissau to Bijagos.
I understand it still runs Friday/Sunday - which would make for a nice weekend away. I presume that schedule is fixed (in as much as a fixed schedule can be in Africa) - are there any other safe options? How long does this ferry take?
