Lonely Planet review for Utz Hua
Delicious, authentic Guatemalan and Quetzalteco dishes for equally yummy prices. The restaurant is well (if slightly frantically) decorated, and it's worth stopping by to check out the indoor thatched roof, if nothing else.

Be prepared to be charged if you're a Gringo or "Outsider"

Seemed like a cute restaurant until we received our cold food, did not get what we had ordered, and were charged more than the listed price on the menu. The little old lady who is the owner, I'm assuming, pulled our waitress aside and we could hear her telling her what to charge us for all our items. The service was not great, and this was a very sad experience for us as we were excited to try true Guatemalan food.

Interesting thatched roof did not make up for rudeness. Food tasted good but was cold. Owner made a special point to pull the waitress aside and rewrite our bill, double charging us for something that was clearly marked on the menu. When questioned politely about why they changed and increased the price so abruptly, they treated us like idiots. Has not happened anywhere else in Xela.
