Apologies - I think this subject has come up a bit before but I couldn't find a definitive answer. I am hoping to drive a rental car from Cancun through Guatemala, crossing from Belize at San Ignacio. The car insurance is not valid in Guatemala but I definitely want to have protection - does anyone know of any specific places I could buy rental car insurance for 5 days near the Guatemala/Belize border? (Or anywhere at all if not near the border!) Many thanks - any help would be greatly…
I'm traveling right now in Guatemala to learn Spanish and if you're looking to lense Spanish I would defiantly recommend Spanish School Don Pedro de Alvarado. I learned a lot in just the on week I was in Antigua.
I am a Canadian moving to Guatemala City and I am looking to join a group driving through Mexico to Guatemala City sometime in late September or early October 2016. I figure safety in numbers eh. :)
Thanks a bunch,
I am planning my travels to Guatemala in November and am hoping to stay in and visit a number of the villages around Lake Atitlan including San Pedro, San Marcos, Panajachel, Santa Cruz, Jaibalito, San Juan, Santiago, and possibly Solola.
I will be traveling as a solo female (20-something Caucasian Canadian) and am wondering if there are any known safety issues or concerns in these towns? I would be taking a boat to each one and do not plan to be hiking between villages, as I have…
I just now noticed the circled number 14 by my screen name. Don't know how long that's been going on. Anyone know what that means? Kind of making me a bit nervous that someone chose to put it there without asking me or telling me.
I live in Guatemala but my income comes from the U.S. In most of Central America either the U.S. dollar is the official currency of the local currency is pre-programmed to devaluate against the US$. But, in Guatemala the Quetzal continues to up against the U.S. dollar. It was about 7.8 a couple of years ago, 7.63 about six months ago, 7.5 two weeks ago and 7.2 today.
I am wondering if anyone understands the reason for this. The only thing I can think of is the amazing anti-corruption measures…
Hi Traveler friends,
Heading to Guatemala tonight! Have a few last minute questions for you guys.
1- Apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find a recent answer/ have been told many mixed things.. Is it ok to swim in lake Atitlan? Some say yes some say no so I would like to hear the general consensus from you guys.
2-What would be the best way to get from San Marcos, atitlan to the big Sunday market in Chi Chi and then back to Antigua? We are two females so a safe but…
My friend and I arrived from Belize into Guatemala yesterday and we've realised we don't have an entry stamp for Guatemala (we do have an exit stamp for Belize).
We tried going to the airport in Flores to get it stamped with no success. Our options now are to go back to the border which would be a big hassle and lose us a day or risk it when we try and leave Guatemala for Honduras.
Does anyone have any knowledge about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
(Sorry if this is similar…
