Hello, I have several questions about Las Verapaces.
I would like to spend a week in this area. Semuc Champey, Candelaria Caves, and Laguna Lachua (is it the correct order/itinerary?). We will leave from Antigua and after these places we will go north to Flores.
I am traveling without a car (we dont want to rent a car), the first week of January (from the 1st), with my wife.
How is the temperature in these places? Does it rain often?
How easy is it to move from one place to another? What…
We are traveling in Guatemala for 24 days. We are more adventurous and would like to do a mix of outdoor activities with seeing some off the beaten path areas.
Would the following itinerary be possible?
10/29/2016 Antigua - Shuttle from Airport
10/30 Antigua - Overnight hike to Volcano with OZ
11/1/2016 Antigua - Day trip to Kite Festival for Day of the Dead
11/2/2016 Antigua - Earth Lodge http://www.earthlodgeguatemala.com
11/3 Antigua - Earth Lodge
11/4 Lake Atitlan
I'm planning a trip to Belize and Guatemala in March with three kids. Will be in San Ignacio then going to Flores for a night, Tikal for a night and then have another night to kill before heading back into Belize.
Can someone suggest something to do and/or a place to stay for a night in the area? Since most of our trip will be in Belize, I'm keen to spend more time in Guatemala but don't want to spend it on the road driving too far south.
One option is to stay in Tikal for a second night but…
Beginning of December I will go to Central America and Columbia for 4 months of traveling. This trip will start in Guatemala and I could need some help with my itinerary in this country.
After Guatemala I want to get my PADI Open Water in Utila, Honduras.
I will stay at least 1 week in Antigua or Lake Atitlan to do a Spanish Course.
My plan would be more or less to visit the places below in this order.
I am planning to stay in Antigua for four days, while doing a half day trip to Pacaya and also checking out the Macadamia Farm, Caoba Farms, Cerro de la Cruz, the markets and wandering the streets to photograph the colonial buildings and churches.
Do you think that four days is enough time to do all of this? Just looking for some advice from those who have been to Antigua.
I'm planning to hike Volcano Acatenango in late December.
For those who have done the hike, would you recommend doing it in one day or staying overnight? Are there any tour guides/outfitters you would recommend? I read that you can hire a local guide in La Soledad but it seems like he only offers the day hike option.
I am planning to go to Guatemala in February 2017 for 10 days (Canadian female in mid 30s, travelling solo) and wanted to ask for advice regarding the below itinerary which I put together after reading lots of material here.
Is it too ambitious? Or is it doable? Would appreciate any advice. I know 11 days is not enough but can't take longer vacation due to work commitments.
Day 1 (Sat, Feb 4): Arrival from Vancouver - in GC around 10:15 AM and take a shuttle to Antigua.
I am wanting to send some scarves and things out of Guatemala using the postal service. I have been using El Correo is the past as it is a cheaper option, however the postal service has shut down two times within the past 5 months. I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was an option for another postal service that has cheap shipping options? I have heard that Cropa has a slow shipping option because their rapid shipping which takes 3 days to the USA or CND usually costs an arm…
Hello fellow travellers. My wife and I will be visiting some friends who are presently working/living in Guatemala city which we intend to stay with for a few days. But then we'd like to travel a bit. Our main concern is safety. How risky is it? We've travelled throughout Mexico several times so we have some experience. Your valued experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.
