Lonely Planet review
Guatemala City's best downtown hostel has reasonable rooms and dorms, a cramped kitchen area and a great rooftop terrace. The location's handy for the Zona Viva eating and nightlife scene. Call for free pickup from the airport or bus terminal.
Our independent authors have visited Quetzalroo and selected this as one of our recommended hostels in Guatemala City.
Description provided by property
Stay at Quetzalroo and you will stay in a hostel run by experienced travellers. The founders this hostel are two experienced travellers who met in Australia. They decided to open up their own backpackers hostel in Guatemala City.
Their aim is to bring their passion for travelling to their guests as well as offering them a safe place to stay in comfort. You can discover Guatemala's capital city from this great hostel and use it as a base for exploring the rest of this amazing country too.
When you stay at Quetzalroo you will stay in a boutique hostel that has a personalised service. You will find us in the heart of 'Zona Viva' (the 'live zone'). This area is s lovely, clean and really safe area of town. It is also the place to find some great nightlife. restaurants, entertainment and shopping malls. We are also in close proximity to the airport (about a 7 minute drive).
Quetzalroo offers comfortable beds (including linen) in mixed dorm accommodation with shared bathroom facilities. We also have a private room for single or double occupancy, with shared bathroom facilities. There is also a kitchen for you to use so you can save some money by cooking your own meals. We have a supermarket within walking distance to the hostel.
There is a great area for you to enjoy your meals, catch up with friends in our internet room (or you can use your own laptop), our internet service is free. We also have a common room for chilling out in, watching a DVD or reading a book... we call this the Outback Lounge.
Our nightly rate includes free transport from and to the airport and we are also more than happy to take you anywhere in zones 10, 9 and 13 (museums, bars and restaurants) in our own private vehicle.
Also included is complimentary continental breakfast, including toast, fresh fruit, tea or a cup of Guatemala's delicious coffee... mmm... smell the beans roasting now...! We can even prepare your breakfast before an early morning departure for your onward journey.
Quetzaloo looks forward to welcoming you to our hostel and of course, Guatemala City!
