Lonely Planet review

Guatemala City's luxury hotel before WWII, the Pan American is one of the few hotels in the city with any air of history. There's a fine, art-deco lobby that's filled with plants and a not-too-shabby restaurant. Rooms are spacious and simple, often with three or more beds. The bathrooms are stylish and modern, with good-sized tubs.

Avoid rooms facing the noisy street.
