Misterio Verde information
Acts as a booking agent for various community tourism projects in the area, including the Chicacnab cloud forests (near Cobán) and the subtropical rainforests of Rocjá Pomtilá (near Laguna Lachuá) in which participants stay in villages with a Q'eqchi' Maya family. For Q350 to Q450 you get a guide, lodging for two nights and four meals.
Your guide will take you hiking to local places of interest. The men of the family are the guides, providing them a sustainable way to make a living. Reservations are required at least one day in advance. It also rents boots, sleeping bags and binoculars at reasonable prices, so you need not worry if you haven't come prepared for such a rugged experience. Participants should speak at least a little Spanish. With a month's notice, this outfit also offers quetzal-viewing platforms.
