I'm an American who has been living and working in Moscow, Russia for the last six years and I can tell you that this part of the world that was closed off to most westerners for so many years is a fascinating place and the people are some of the nicest I have ever met, nothing like what I learned during the cold war years. Just started a new blog called, 'Live Asia, Travel Asia' and whilst it'll contain stuff such as travel journals, I also want to provide information that'll be useful for other people who live and travel in Asia. This other information will include, airlines and other forms of travel to help people get to different places, stuff to do for mini-retirements i.e. learn a language, learn how to cook Thai/Vietnamese. I'll also like to investigate how to earn on the road and being more entrepreneurial whilst traveling.
