    From the U.S.

Thats me on Sky Line Drive. What did I do on the drop offs ? Stared over the edges like an idiot, with my heart in my throat. I hope one day to visit the Melbourne area, and perhaps even retire there. My cousin married an Australian girl in the mid 60s, and I've wanted to go ever since. My wife is 100% Virginian, and will do her best to weld my chains to our home here in Great Bridge, Virginia. I was in the motorcycle business for many years, and worked for "Big Sid" Biberman of Vincent fame, and was able to meet you own Phil Irving, as Sid and Phil, had been friends for many years. Another great possible meeting was that of Judith Durham, and her husband Ron Edgeworth. They were traveling through Norfolk, and became lost. They just happened to stop at our motorcycle repair shop, to ask for directions on how to get out of town. I went home & told my wife Sally, who said that I had probably gotten some brain damage from one of my wrecks, and I was seeing things. On...

Great Ideas #428 - I'm going to win this Ducati 1098 Matt!

Great Ideas #428 - I'm going to win this Ducati 1098 Matt! 1500 tickets, $100 each, proceeds to the Victoria bush-fire recovery - I got number 1275. Feel like it's a possibility. What should I do when I win? Trade it in on the KTM Adventure and come on the Round Victoria Odyssey perhaps... all suggestions welcome.

    Nigel, Jamie, and Matthew

Nigel, Jamie, and Matthew The Red Parrot Cafe in Noojee in Gippsland Victoria this weekend - great run out on an almost empty M1 before heading north to the Mt Baw Baw road for the run back down to Yarra Junction - short, sweet, and left us feeling slightly unsatisfied! Noah and the GSXR-600 in Melbourne Laneway

Noah and the GSXR-600 in Melbourne Laneway There is nothing like the joy of a boy discovering the thrill of two wheels and a motor. Melbourne is such a great place to socialise someone into riding - lots of short trips to destinations like Jocks (best ice-cream in Melbourne), slow back streets under the trees, and the ease of parking on the footpath. I would live nowhere else.

Best rides in the city of Melbourne

So without having to really get out of Melbourne... where's the best place to have a good ride? A good mix of bends perhaps, with a little accelerator work? St Kilda?

chrisla Kew Boulevard has some great twisty bits. But it also used to have angry residents who'd do things like leave oil or bricks on the road to take out bikes! A bit further out along Maroondah Hwy is the Blacks Spur ride, magic. Down Noojee way you should have a crack at the Grand Ridge Rd. http://206gti.net/grr/
