Make a video about where you live - Fave Four in your home town

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXre0RkMYY4

For all the big decisions in life, I don't think one is ever prepared. I think it is a matter of learning as you go.

Two months into my round the world trip it is time to assess how things are going, particularly regarding the making money on the road goal.

I've been reading a few books and exploring a few ideas, and one thing I would like to do is pass on my knowledge of video production on to others.

So I put out a call to all my subscribers and any one else interested, to make a video featuring the top four things to do in your home town.

Let's make this easy and old school, no need for fancy editing, just edit in camera, with camera phone, webcam, whatever.

Try and keep the video under 2 minutes, which means 30 secs for each segment.

Imagine you are showing a visitor the highlights of where you live, your fave four things.

    Load your video to y...

Another really enjoyable way to earn some money while travelling is to shoot videos of the hotels, tours or hostels you are staying at, since they are always looking for new material they can use on their website and on social media sites.

An abstract way of looking at the problem is minimizing the cost of travel in the first place. I've been traveling for free for a while now and started blogging about how to do it http://getyourtravelfree.blogspot.com/ If you don't have to pay - you don't need to work :-)

By the way, reading the great stories posted here makes me think… If there would be a free tool (a website) to help us all know what we can do, in what country to make a bit of money while traveling, would *you* use this site while traveling? Would you also share your stories there?

For example, you could be displayed a large google map of the world. If you click on a country or a city on the map, you can see exactly how and where (contact information, address etc) other travelers made money…

I am currently working on a project and was wondering if there would interest from the travelers community to add such a map-based tool for sharing stories... Let me know your thoughts on this forum or via private message please!

Thanks everyone for sharing your great stories! The way I myself makes the most money while traveling, is by reselling some electronics products in other countries.

For example, I sold my netbook for 200CAD$ profit at the end of my trip in Brazil last year :)

I went backpacking in Europe for about 2.5 months during the summer of 07, right after I graduated from ASU. While staying with a friend in Lagos, Portugal, I got a job at a local bar called 'Inside Out Bar', and was paid cash under the table. I worked for a total of 8 nights, and most of us at Inside Out were foreigners without work visas, but we catered to tourists and the bar needed English speakers. This was a common situation amongst bars in Lagos, and I'm sure this sort of things happens at bars and nightclubs all over Europe. Anway, I drank for free everyday and made a little bit of money. I highly recommend it.
