Hiya there.
I'm looking to visit Japan in either late September or early October. Possibly for two weeks. I'm from the UK (more specifically Warrington).I'm a frequent traveller, even though my job ties me down to how much I can travel.
I've travelled around Thailand, China, Vietnam and Singapore and now its time to visit Japan. I'd love to hear on your thoughts, best places, things to do, the goods and the bads.
thanks in advance.

Hello!
I want to plan a trip to Japan (1 month-3 month) and it's my first time
But I'm really confused from all the information I have.
My plan is to travel to Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Do a track from Tokyo to Kyoto (and stay in Kyoto for a while), Maybe do a little detour to the Japan's Alps and go to the beaches of Okinawa. All those who traveled there or have a bit of info , please help me. It has been my dream since high school and I want it to be an unforgettable experience. Thanks :)

nickcowdy Hey rebecca, I'm coming in for 2 weeks from the 6th May potentially on my own. I've only been to Tokyo and a few ski resorts so can only recommend just cruising the JR Yamanote line in Tokyo.... shibuya, Ueno, Akihabara etc etc. all have their own personality.
Maybe il see you about! Any ideas of Hostels in Tokyo?about 2 years ago · report -

rebecca6912 hey nick im staying with a friend when im in tokyo so didnt really bother looking at hostels in tokyo. Ive booked one in kyoto though forget whats its called now, cheap anyway which was the main thing. What are your plans when your in japan? you staying in tokyo area or travelling around a bit?
about 2 years ago · report -

nickcowdy Will only be in Tokyo a couple of days when I get there, and not sure if I will fly out from there or Osaka. But want to climb Fuji and hit Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima, and maybe Fukuoka. Very loose plans and I'm sure they will change cause I don't have much time. I'm just going to get the rail pass and see where it takes me. You?

Hi everyone,
I'm going to Japan in April for a month and plan to get a rail acrd to travel round and see as much of the country as possible. Does anyone have suggestions of places to visit (i'm really into architecture), or an itinerary for a 4 week trip?
Also does anyone know how much a month in Japan - backpacking and staying in hostels - is likely to cost?
Thanks!
Quentin

julzetraveller Quentin. You will have a fabulous time. The rail pass works really well. I went for a week a few years ago: I based myself in Osaka and took rail trips out each day. Because the trains go so fast you can be anywhere in a few hours. Closeby is Nara - a beautiful spiritual place even if it is a prime tourist attraction. You must visit Kyoto and stay a few days. I also spent a day at Himeji castle.
Other destinations that I have visited on other occassons incude Nikko (never say "great" without seeing Nikko) and Hakone. Hakone is famous for hot springs. Stay in a Riokan. If you love trains the rail journey from Tokyo to Hakone is wonderful.
Of course you should also spend some time at Mt Fuji. I only had a fleeting glance during my last trip but more would have been great.
There are so many wonderful places I have yet to visit. Its all good.about 2 years ago · report
