A typical day for Romanians, enjoying a cold beer, regardless of season.I'm starting to think in Europe, the more you go East, the more people enjoy drinking. Romanians will drink for just about any occasion. There's even a national holly day when tradition says you should drink 40 shots. Both men and women drink, it's normal, though it's custom, when visiting for either the man of the family or the host to pour the drinks. It's considered impolite in such occasions to pour your own, unless instructed otherwise. The word for cheers is "NOROC" which mean "good luck".

saryenn Just to make one thing clear, we're not alcoholics, and it's not like you'll be taken away and forced to drink, but there is one downside. If Germans drink beer, and say Russians drink vodka, Romanians have a very bad habit of mixing drinks. Say: beer for starters, wine to get things moving and vodka, gin or whiskey to wash it all off. So stick to what you know, if you don't think this will work for you, couse' it usually doesn't.:p

The Densus Church has a very interesting history, to go with its very interesting, if not odd, look. This is one of the oldest churches on our territory.Every last rock and pillar here is from a nearby old roman town. It has an open roof and that has an opening in the roof if I recall with a very interesting story as well. Most of the paintings inside were erased by the ottomans, but what's left isn't bad either, for you to form an impression but some of it will send chills down your spine.

Picture in Alba Iulia. I'm not sure what Transylvanian ethnic group this little girl was part of, but I had to take a picture of her because it was such a gray, rainy day and she was so cute in her colorful costume, and I just love people who wear their national costumes.Cheers to beautiful traditions :)

If you don't have much time, you can choose the fast way to tour Romania. Visit the ASTRA Vilage Museum near Sibiu, and you'll get full tour of our rural area, for the price equivalent of a piece of candy. You might have hurd of the Vilage Museum in Bucharest, but believe me, it's not nearly as big as this one. So my advice, decide if you would like to see something in particular, and see that first so you don't get tired by the time you reach it. Hint: The museum is set in a forest. :)

The hustle during the Medieval Festival in Sighisoara, here people are gathered for a presentation of fighting skills. In the middle, a knight is getting ready. The festival takes place every year in the last weekend of July. This year, the Festival is at its 19th edition.

Train Museum in Resita. If you've never heard of it, it's to the west of the country. Quaint little town with much more that a reminiscence of communist atmosphere. Not long ago, the town was quite famous for the locomotives produced here. They've long since stopped production, but the Museum is still proof of this old industry.

I don't feel like saying much today, but I'm trying to post at least one photo per day, and this is it today. The People's Palace, second largest State building in the world, first after the Pentagon (first in the world for a time, after 9/11).I never found it that big on the outside, but it does turn out that it has another 8 floors underground, and over 3000 unofficially.

The medieval town of Sibiu, or Hermastadt as I recall it's called in German.Beautiful place, one of the loveliest in Transylvania in my opinion. In 2007 in was European cultural capital. What I can tell you is that one can never see enough of it. It has this fairytale charm, with an air of mystery that always makes you want to discover more. The people are warm and welcoming, there are lots of places to visit in town for a few days, and more that enough places to spend your money, whatever your preferences might be.
