London Town aka old blighty, has been my place of port, ever since i can remember, being raised in middle america,as a lovechild of the late 60's,i can distinctly recall singing 'london bridge/yellow submarine' constantly? and when the 2nd brit invasion/punk/acid house/happy hardcore/the britpop explosion happened,i was all over it,OK?!

yet none of my compatriots got it,therefore leaving me all alone 2 enjoy my deep love for all ting tings euro all 2 myself, and 2 this day, that love hasn't squandered, not a bit?

i even lived in London 4 like a month in '02/'03,and i'm really rearing 2 get back there 4 good, only i keep on hearing about the dreaded recession,so i don't wanna jump into all that, see?

but i gotta get outta middle america,it's gotten way 2 conservative 4 my tastes. plus, add 2 that,i'm a musician/artist,so that just multiplies it by that much more, indeed?!

i'm thinking about going down under 1st,as it seems a little easier 2 go there, make some money, then go back to...

    Heathrow Lodge...near Heathrow Airport...

If you are looking for the drop-dead cheapest place to stay in London...consider the Heathrow Lodge... it's out near Heathrow.

It's quite nice enough... in a quaint neighborhood...with two historic old Pubs nearby.

The Lodge is close to terminal 5 on Old Bath Rd...take the 81 bus...or the free 423 bus from bus post # 5 at Terminal 5...and ask to be let off at the first stop - called "the square."

Your undergrond connection from the Lodge is literally in terminal 5....which you get back to on the free bus 423 in front of the Lodge... that returns back to terminal 5... Terminal 5 is actually the nicest terminal...and beats shabby Terminal 4 totally!

Ultra cheap rates at the Lodge... it's used by backpakers and airline personel...Very helpful and friendly staff...

There is a bit of plane noise to deal with in the evening and early morning...but the nights are usually plane free...

And of course you are a bit out of Londo...

British Airways sometimes has good hotel/flight package deals

I went with a friend to London in March 2008. She had found a package for 4 nights hotel in London with the flight that was around $500 American. If two people went, two nights at the hotel were free. Very good deal. The Hotel was nothing to write home about (Royal National) but it wasn't horrible and it was within walking distance of the British Museum and a tube station.
