Belgium beer
Before arriving to Belgium I was drinking beer just as a social occasion...
However I really can testify that Belgium has by far the best beers...
Chimay
Westvelteren
Westmalle
Maredsous
Rochefort
just to give a some examples....
Ah... pivo, cerveza, öl or just plain old beer - it just can't be beat!
Exciting news - the Beers of the World group just admitted it's 100th member - great to see such enthusiasm for travel and beer!
Welcome to the group and, of course - Cheers!

drifting_adam Ah - definitely! Chimay, Westmalle and Rochefort are all outstanding beers. I believe most (perhaps all?) of them are Trappists beer - brewed by a specific order of monks and are outstanding examples of their craft.
The others I haven't had the pleasure of trying - I'll add them to my drinking list!
drifting_adam I was initially quite cynical of the Kriek (cherry) and Framboise (raspberry) beers, but after having one (or two) on sun drenched Belgian plaza over an afternoon I was quite converted - wouldn't touch one in an evening or during winter, but perfect for a summer's day.
Thank goodness the Belgians decided to ignore the German Purity Law and throw just about anything into their beers!
andreroseta Thanks for commenting!
Trappists beer are indeed dangerous as good they are...
kemcho You cannot neglect Duvel-- Belgium's best and most consistent beer!
