We took the European Spatial Planning Observation Network (ESPON) idea and made our own maps, plotting Barcelona's unique place in Europe via metro ticket prices, major concerts, tourism, erasmus students, etc. Check it out!!:http://www.bcnweek.com/feature80.html#feature1

Hello lovers of the B-Sizzle!! There's a new home for independent music and upcoming bands based in and around Barcelona!! Check out http://indiependent.es to listen to some tunes and watch some videos and come to the next concerts if you are in the city! To read the actual content a bit of castellano is definitely necessary!! But you can still stay informed of what's going on musically without excellent Spanish skills ;).

    Best record shop in Barcelona!

    Hiya
Love your group - I'm a big Barcelona fan; wish I was there right now in fact. Anyway, just thought I'd put in a word for the best record shop I've ever come across in my long and illustrious vinyl-hunting career:
WAH WAH RECORDS, C/ Riera Baixa 14, El Raval

They've got everything you could wish for - I could've spent my air fare all over in that place.

    Hasta luego guapos!

yosoyyo Nice Post!! When was the last time you were there? Did you ever come across this shop while there? Maybe not as varied a selection, but if your swinging the whole funk/soul vibe, no better place to stop and shop....

suzywatusi Hello again! Oh man, Discos Juandó looks like just the excuse I need to return to Barcelona. I was there in June last year, so a few months before the shop opened... it looks fantastic though! Thanks for the link.

    Burritos por favor!

Let me tell you about a kind of a hidden place away for tourist routes. A burrito joint called itztli (http://www.itztli.es)

In this place you can get pretty good size burritos for 4 Euros. This place is located in Barceloneta.

    You can find it here:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=es&geocode=&q=Carrer+de+Sant+Miquel+60,+08003+Barcelona+(itztli+barceloneta)&sll=41.384102,2.180743&sspn=0.006601,0.01929&ie=UTF8&ll=41.381832,2.189713&spn=0.006601,0.01929&t=h&z=16&iwloc=r0

    Good vibes!

Barcelona WIFI (wifi means wireless internet!!)

Barcelona has launched a city-wide wifi program. While this might not count as Off-The-Beaten-Path-News the likes of which we would like to foster in this group, at least it means that while walking around the B-Sizzle you'll be able to connect and see this page...

    OK. I'm here

    Hi There,
I just joined this group. So, what are we going to do here? I can post some links to my "Off the Beaten Track" posts on TT. I will try to think of some other little tidbits to post; some of my favorite places.

My last stay in BCN was in Oct 2002 so I won't be posting anything like restauants (other that a few classics that probably won't change) or nightspots or things like that which go in and out of fashion and quality. Current residents are more up on the latest in those areas.

    Where to begin?

    Badger

      yosoyyo Hola Badger,
We're gonna try to create a reference within this Lonely Planet world that tries to point out the OBP (OffBeatenPath) venues and areas of Barcelona. Shops that are not mainstream, that do something different. Restaurants that are unique and accessible and welcoming. I don't know. Let your heart guide you. When was the last time you were in the B-Sizzle?

badger1492 Hey! The buttons are back! I couldn't post for a while for some reason; no buttons.

Anyway, the last time I was in Barna was Oct 2002. All my travel these days is business travel to Asia. Hope to get back to Barna someday soon. I just hope I can help people find 'off the beaten path' things. I will be posting more soon.

Let's make this group a collection of great spots in the REAL Barcelona.

The off-Ramblas Barcelona. Comment on the things you stumbled upon when there. Use photos of them to recommend.
Let's make it like the Lonely Planet version of BCN WEEK, my personal favourite publication there...

We love you, Barcelona. All your little secret and dives. Your narrows and even your August swelter. We love your diversity and your cultural persistence. Te amamos. Te queremos. Tenim molta sort de havernos conegut.
