A solo vacation
I am looking to travel solo in Jan or Feb of 2010. What do you recommend. I have always wanted to go to Africa, but the political climate of many of the countries has made me wary. Also, I have not traveled much --this vacation will be 2-3 weeks-- and I am looking for suggestions. Thanks!

sandries Hi! Why don't you try Tanzania? It's one of the gems of Africa and you'll find everything that you imagine to be Africa: Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti with its vast plains and great wildlife, Masai and Bushmen, mountains, bush and semi-desert, white beaches and crystal-clear water, women in traditional clothes,... And it's a stable country! Try www.endallahtours.com. It's a small Tanzanian-owned company and they're just starting. I travelled with them and they're great. No lodges and luxury hotels but the real Africa!
ganeshanandadeva Thank you sandries for replying to my post. I checked out endallahtours, and it looks interesting. Is it possible to travel in Africa as a vegan (no animal products in my diet)?
kc_luka ya you might have some trouble with that as its a meat and animal product orientated culture. they do however eat a meal made purely of ground maizemeal and water pretty much everywhere called unga, sudsa, posho and a number of other things. If you are staying in hotels depending on how fancy you might be able to ask for vegan food. i am kenyan and i can only say that east africa is a beautiful place to travel and an amazing variety of cultural experience!
