Blog: Turkey's For Life - 22 September 2011
It's almost as if the Fethiye weather has synced itself with our daily life. As we said goodbye to our friends on Monday afternoon and began to wind down and return to a more normal existence, so the unseasonal September humidity finally gave in to the inevitable build up of electricity.

Blog: theboywhoatetheworld - 12 September 2011
In the mountains of southern Crete, just off the sleepy village of Zaros…amidst olive groves, grape vines and wild mountain herbs lies Eleonas - a stunning agro-tourism settlement of traditional mountain cottages. Before this trip, I had never been to one of these eco-tourism retreats before, hence I was a little curious if the remote isolation of such [...]

To The Greek Island of Meis Once More
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 27 August 2011
Some time back, we did a post about saying farewell to Meis, thinking we weren't going to be seeing this beautiful Greek island again for quite some time. Strange how life takes twists and turns and forces you to eat your words as, on Monday, just 6 months after we were last there, we found ourselves once again on a day trip to Meis to renew our visa.

Rhodes Old Town - The Ottomans
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 12 August 2011
When I was younger, I was an expert armchair traveller (I still am) and had an image in my head of all Greek islands. They all looked exactly the same and you can probably guess the picture: idyllic, whitewashed buildings with blue-painted doors and window frames, geraniums and bougainvillea surrounding the houses, sheer cliff faces plunging into an azure sea below. Yes, it's that photo that appears on the front of every holiday brochure, guidebook and tourism poster that advertises the Greek islands and it's the island of Santorini.

The All-Seeing Eye On Rhodes
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 4 August 2011
Today's post is a photo that I've been meaning to add to the blog for a while and I've just rediscovered it buried in my laptop folders. Quite often, whenever we visit somewhere new, it's not the tourist sites or the famous monuments that stick in our minds months after our return.

Photo Junket: The Island of Zakynthos, Greece
Blog: The Travel Project - 18 July 2011
The island of Zakynthos in Greece, or Zante as it affectionately known and easier to spell, is found west of the Peloponnese in the Ionian Sea. Whilst full of pre-packaged tourists and considered a well oiled money making machine, Zante is home to some of the warmest and friendliest Greeks I have had the opportunity to meet anywhere in the world.

Athens – where pollution meets paganism
Blog: See Simi Travel Blog - 4 July 2011
Have you ever believed that you could feel the grime of a city on your face? It feels like you're wearing a mask of grease and exhaust smoke. A global warming facial. There's a great way to beat the smog while covering all of Athens many (many, many....) famous sights... curious?

If you read Turkey's for Life regularly, you'll know that we've been heading to the tiny Greek island of Meis (known to most as Kastellorizo) every 90 days to renew our Turkish visa. It's been a part of our life for the last few years and let's face it; it's hardly a chore, sailing across the Mediterranean to spend the day on a beautiful Greek island every once in a while.
