Waterfront sights in Greece

  1. Kioni

The pretty little village of Kioni may be one of Ithaki's better-kept secrets. It's draped around a verdant hillside spilling down to a picturesque miniature harbour where yachties congregate. Tavernas, bars and flower-bedecked buildings will have you reaching for your camera. For swimming, seek out the small, pebbly bays between Kioni and Frikes, 4km away.

  2. Katapola

Katapola is a pleasant place that straggles along the curving shoreline of a dramatic bay in the most verdant part of the island. Remains from the ancient Cretan city of Minoa, as well as a Mycenaean cemetery, lie above the port and can be reached by a steep uphill walk. Places to stay and eat as well as basic amenities can be found here.
