Filopappou Hill
Filopappou Hill, also called the Hill of the Muses, is identifiable to the southwest of the Acropolis by the Monument of Filopappos at its summit. The monument was built between 114 and 116 in honour of Julius Antiochus Filopappos, who was a prominent Roman consul and administrator.

Hill of the Pnyx
The meeting place of the Democratic Assembly in the 5th century BC. Among the great orators who addressed assemblies here were Aristides, Demosthenes, Pericles and Themistocles. The site offers great views over Athens.

To the northwest of the Acropolis is the Hill of the Nymphs, on which stands the old Athens observatory built in 1842.
