Hi, I was planning on spending the two last weeks of July in Greece (3 days in Athens and around 10 on the islands) and with the news we are a little bit worried. Has anybody any advice to give regarding delays for the ferries or interruptions on the public transportation, etc? How is the ambiance in Athens for tourists since the recent events? Thank you very much,
My brother and I are taking our parents to Europe for 4 weeks next year in August, and there will probably end up being about 9 of us travelling from Australia.
We will be spending about a week in Greece, with a couple of days in Athens and then the rest of the time on an island. I have been to Mykonos before and had a great time but would like to go to a different island this time. I am thinking Santorini but was hoping to get some opinions on if perhaps another island is worth a look…
Hi folks! My newly wed and I are working on a Greek honeymoon in late December, split between Santorini (to catch whatever we can of the nature scenes and maybe Akrotiri) and Athens (for the Acropolis).
Yes, we know it's off season for the Islands. That's why we're going. We want to take in Santorini without the regular summer crowd. However, we wanted to make sure we covered all our bases for off-season, so we had a few questions.
1) Ferry or Plane to Santorini? Internet research seems…
I could imagine that there would be great deals to have in the current climate when most people are afraid to travel, especially for those bringing in foreign currency (in my case USD).
I am coming to Greece mid next year, and was wondering which Island out of Rhodes and Crete (mainly Chania) would be best? I am most likely doing Mykonos.
What would be the best base on these Islands? and what are good things to do?
Also what type of accommodation would be best within the 3 or 4 stars.
I don't have an exact time decided, however it would be at least 2 weeks minimum for islands.
Initially I chose Rhodes, however recently I have been looking at Chania in Crete which looks…
I am thinking of taking my 2 and 4 year old kids to Greene next spring on a short break.
Can you recommend the best island / place to go?
I am not after island hoping, just want to stay in one place near sandy beach and warm sea.
Not a fan of "family" resorts, would still like to experience "real" Greece rather than being stuck in a big faceless hotel.
Would love some villa/apartment recommendations.
Hi! I am travelling to Greece on October 30th. I'll be in Athens from November 1st to 7th, Then off to Mykonos til November 11th, then heading to Santorini until November 16th, and then back to Argentina.
I was wondering if you could tell me what the islands are like in that time of the year and also, I have been trying to find Ferry schedules for that time and I could not find any. Do you think there will be ferries available for November?
Any ideas for a relaxing, warm spot near Thessaloniki (< 3 hrs) where we can spend a week swimming, reading, breathing, eating fresh fish & rent somewhere with a kitchenette? Somewhere we can rent bikes where there is not too much traffic would be fantastic.
We're not sure whether to stick to the mainland (my hunch is that it is less touristy than an island, hence less touristy than Thassos?) or drive up, take the ferry and go to Thassos island.
Previously we have enjoyed holidays on other…
We're arriving fairly late (~10pm) at Santorini airport. We're staying at Ilioperato in Imerovigli about 1,5 km from Fira. The hotel can arrange transport for 20 EUR (shared transport for 2 pax) or 40 EUR (private transport).
Does it make sense to pre-book transport when arriving at 10pm? If so, does this sound reasonable or are there better options? We typically avoid hotel transfers as they're often a rip-off.
We want to avoid queuing for a long time but also spending more than…
