  2. Byzantine Museum

    The sublime Its Kale (Inner Citadel; h - , - Tue-Sun) of the Kastro rises from a long bluff overlooking the lake and mountain. A great place for a leisurely stroll, Its Kale also has a small café. The mixed history it represents includes the Tomb of Ali Pasha and the restored Fetiye Cami(Victory Mosque), originally built in 1611 to reassert Ottoman dominance, following a failed Greek uprising that caused Christians to be expelled from the citadel.

    Similar items to those on display at the Municipal Ethnographic Museum, including embroidery and cooking utensils, are on view at the Folklore Museum .

  4. Municipal Ethnographic Museum

    The Municipal Ethnographic Museum stands at the Kastro's northern end in the Aslan Pasha Mosque (1619). Local costumes and photographs of old Ioannina are on display, as are tapestries and prayer shawls from the synagogue of Ioannina's once significant Jewish community.
