Hi,

Next November I'll go to Greece. My main aims are Athos, Athens, Saloniki, Meteora. I'd like to dedicate a day, at least to the wildlife. But, my time is limited. So, any suggsestion of a daytrip of birdwatching from any Athens or Saloniki?
By the way, I'll carry only binoculars, not spoting scope.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I've just have a permission for going to Mount Athos next November. I need more information. As sterters, a pair of questions:

  • In the page of athosfriends.org you is said that although you can find different maps of Athos in Greece, their quality is low. Also, these are advised http://www.filathonites.org/maps/ . Advertisment or reality?

  • In the same page is said that monasteries were abandoned their fax machines. Something not very surprising. Does anybody know where to…

We are in Pylos at present and shall be driving to Nestor's Palace tomorrow to see that, then we want to head north to try and take in Stemnitsa and Dimitsana with two nights left before our last night in Corinth before catching our flight out of Athens Airport. We are thinking that the best way to these two towns is to head back to Kalamata and Messini and then catch the national road that goes through Tripoli to Corinth, taking the off ramp I assume at Tripoli via Davia, Chrysovitsi to…

Hope this is not too late, but I get the idea there is a ferry strike on this friday. I'm on the Saronic islands and need to get from Methana to Aegina on friday. So this is a problem as I have booked my next stay already and it is non refundable. Hm.

Anyone know something about this, and possible ideas?
Thanks

Hello,
I have one week in Greece in mid October. (no where near enough time I know). I land in Athens on Sunday morning and am planning to visit one island as I have to be back in Athens on Wednesday evening. I am looking for something not too far from Athens -but am willing to fly, nice beaches, picturesque villages and some interesting sightseeing. I think that I have ruled out Santorini as I heard that the beaches are not that nice. I have been doing lots of reading but there are so many…

While Greece was lovely, we made a bit of an error in what company to book with. A word of warning...

Our tour guide was quite unhelpful and seemed to be put-out by any questions we had. When we were in Mykonos at the end of the local tour, one of the girls on the tour asked if we could be pointed in the direction of an off-licence and was told "actually its quite complicated so i cant tell you". Also on this day, we weren't able to get lunch until about 4pm due to ferry timing etc (which was…

Hi Thorntreers

My partner and I, in our late 20s, will be arriving in Athens 10pm Thursday night. Friday, Saturday and Sunday is free.
From Monday until early Friday morning we will be going on a cruise around the Greek Islands. Then we have Friday to spend in Athens.

We would love tips on where to go on that long weekend when we arrive in Athens. Currently we're thinking either Meteora Monasteries or heading to the Peloponnese visiting Nafplio, Mycenae and Olympia. Being limited by time we…

Hello

I'm planning a one week vacation in the beginning of April. Mostly moderate hikes with my 6 year old.
Looking for easy hikes in the forests.
Is Litochoro recommended? What about Metsovo?
I'm looking for a town which has a few easy walking paths nearby and some activities for a rainy day.
Thanks
