To The Greek Island of Meis Once More
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 27 August 2011
Some time back, we did a post about saying farewell to Meis, thinking we weren't going to be seeing this beautiful Greek island again for quite some time. Strange how life takes twists and turns and forces you to eat your words as, on Monday, just 6 months after we were last there, we found ourselves once again on a day trip to Meis to renew our visa.

Rhodes Old Town - The Ottomans
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 12 August 2011
When I was younger, I was an expert armchair traveller (I still am) and had an image in my head of all Greek islands. They all looked exactly the same and you can probably guess the picture: idyllic, whitewashed buildings with blue-painted doors and window frames, geraniums and bougainvillea surrounding the houses, sheer cliff faces plunging into an azure sea below. Yes, it's that photo that appears on the front of every holiday brochure, guidebook and tourism poster that advertises the Greek islands and it's the island of Santorini.

The All-Seeing Eye On Rhodes
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 4 August 2011
Today's post is a photo that I've been meaning to add to the blog for a while and I've just rediscovered it buried in my laptop folders. Quite often, whenever we visit somewhere new, it's not the tourist sites or the famous monuments that stick in our minds months after our return.

Beer Sipping in Rhodes Old Town
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 17 June 2011
As we posted about the joy that is an icy cold glass of Efes Pilsen yesterday, and as it's the weekend, we thought we'd continue with the beer theme today.

Day Trip From Fethiye To Rhodes
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 28 May 2011
In our previous post, we bid farewell to Meis for a while and said we hope to still go there again in the future on a day trip or overnight stay. Yesterday was very possibly our last visa trip for the foreseeable future so we decided to return to the Greek island of Rhodes; an island we haven't been to in over three years.

A Farewell To Meis...For Now
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 26 May 2011
If you read Turkey's for Life regularly, you'll know that we've been heading to the tiny Greek island of Meis (known to most as Kastellorizo) every 90 days to renew our Turkish visa. It's been a part of our life for the last few years and let's face it; it's hardly a chore, sailing across the Mediterranean to spend the day on a beautiful Greek island every once in a while.

A Stressful Week In Fethiye
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 3 March 2011
It's been a strange old week - even a tad stressful at times. We always give ourselves a few days grace when leaving Turkey to renew our visa, particularly in winter when the weather can be unpredictable and the Meis Express reduces its schedule to three crossings a week.

Photographing The Greek Island of Meis / Kastellorizo
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 3 December 2010
I don't claim to be a photographer of any description but I do love taking photographs. The Greek island of Meis (Kastellorizo) is a photographer's dream; especially at this time of year when the winter sunlight provides clear, distant scenery and more vibrant colours.

Another Meis Visa Trip
Blog: Turkey's For Life - 15 June 2010
They say time flies when you're enjoying yourself and it's certainly true for us. I can't believe this is the third time I've written about the Meis visa trip on this blog - I don't feel like we've been writing it long enough for that.
