Lonely Planet review for Hatzikelis
A former bakery turned fish restaurant, Hatzikelis shuns the mainstream tourist trade and sticks to noticeable quality. The shellfish excel. Look for mussels, scallops with garlic butter and kefalotyri cheese, fresh clams or sea urchin roe. Divine!

Hatzikelis will be a positive experience with excellent food
jimrutter recommends this,
The owner of Hatzikelis, Eoanis Hatzikelis has responded positively to my unhappy review regarding his wait staff practices. He sent the following note and has followed up with initial payment. "Dear sir on behalf of the staff ,management and me personally,i would like to apologies.I just received your letter and immediately i will put things in place.I would like you and Mr Ford to receive your money back as soon as possible,so please let me now the way that i can send you your money back." I feel Eoanis is dedicated to creating a positive experience when you visit his restaurant. Based on his commitment to customer service, I would visit his restaurant again.

Caveat - disappointed and taken
lobogris does not recommend this,
The review on p. 286 of the LP Greek Islands book indicated that the entrees ranged from 8.50 to 12 Euros and while that was a bit pricy for us, the description convinced us to splurge. The waiter insisted that we visit the kitchen and proudly showed us the fresh fish, the grill and the huge pots of seafood cooking. He recommended the pasta and seafood highly and urged us to make a decision at once so they could start on it and we could return to our table and review any appetizers. We ordered the seafood pasta and returned to our table without asking the price - big mistake and a rube's mistake, I know. The waiter hovered and insisted that we 'sample' the sea urchin's eggs, which we did and which we found rather nondescript. We passed on appetizers and soon they delivered the seafood pasta - huge mounds of pasta (much too much for two people) with a few clams and other seafood scattered around the edges - then the lobsters - again large and too much for two and indifferently spiced - then huge prawns again in a rather nondescript and bland tomato sauce. By this time we were seriously alarmed at the amount of food and the waste (no doggie bags - no place to store them at the hotel anyway), but when we finally got the bill - after numerous delays - 'free' sorbet, 'free' after-dinner sweet wine, etc.- the real shock set in. $225 Euros for two people. I insisted that the manager explain each of the charges, which he was happy to do - 98 Euros for the lobster; 68 Euros for the prawns, 40 Euros for the pasta and various smaller charges for bread, the Sea Urchin 'samples' and other side dishes we had assumed came with the 'pasta.' Education is often both painful and expensive and it certainly was that evening. The really annoying thing was that we had had much better meals in local tavernas for one tenth of the cost. For the rest of the trip we ignored the restaurant suggestions in our Lonely Planet guide.
