My husband and I are celebrating our 70th birthdays this autumn. We are asking for ideas concerning the two or three best islands for us to visit for 2-3 weeks in October. Suggestions pertaining to weather, beauty, sites to see and relaxation would be of interest to us.

On 7th February 2016 we booked two double rooms through Expedia for the Hotel Byzantine, Rethymnon, Crete, Greece with check in: 11 March 2016 and check out: 13 March 2016. We received an email from Expedia (with our itinerary number) saying that our reservation is confirmed and that we don´t need to call to reconfirm.
On the 9th of March 2016 we received an email from Expedia.com verifying our stay at the hotel (with itinerary number).
On the 10th of March 2016 (just one day before our departure)…

We will be staying at a Hotel in Oia in Aug end. We are thinking of having a half day trip in the sea. Is this advisable; and what could be the best half day tour in the sea. May be to another island or snorkeling or just boating around the island. Any other suggestion to spend 3 days in Oia.

Thanks,

We will be arriving at Santoirni Airport from Zurich. Is there any Germanos store for buying prepaid Cosmote SIM card at Santorini Airport or at Oia where we will be staying. I read on the Forum that there is a store in Fira. But not sure if that is the only one on the Santorini island. Wanted to get it either from Santorini aiprot or near hotel Olympic Villas at Oia.

We plan to use a local sim card at Santorini and Athens for a week. What is the best place to buy and costs. Do we get it at the airport; or in the Santorini city. What is the good store/company for buying a sim for mainly data usage.

We will be staying for 3 days in Athens coming from Canada. We are thinking of taking a rental car for a day and drive to Delphi in the morning 9 am and come back by 7 pm. Is it doable. How is the driving and rental car costs. I mean it should not be a lot of stress. Another option looking is bus. Does it come back same day. Though we prefer car due to convenience and stopping on the way if find something interesting to view and eating etc. Any help.

How is the driving condition in Greece. What…

I have travelled over 50 countries outside of Europe without a partner. Now, it looks like I will be traveling with someone who has not been outside the US and is very concerned about the availability of toilet facilities particularly in Athens. We're both in our 70's. Since this is a big deal for her, its now a big deal for me and since its her first travel outside the US, I would like to avoid unnecessary and unpleasant surprises.
Thanks again for all of you who take the time to answer.

I plan to stay in either ios, Naxos or paros in the first two weeks of August and I wonder what are my options in order to land a cheap and very basic accommodation (i need just to sleep somewhere since most of time i'm either on a beach or a party)? I wouldn't go over €30/per night.

-By using accommodation search engines (i.e. expedia, kayak...) I have only found hotels, which seem to start at 70€/day and that's too much. Where I can search for rooms in private settings?
- Would be risky to not…

Hello,

I have extended family in Greece and have traveled there extensively, and one of my best friends from high school is Lebanese-American. We have always talked about, in a couple of years, doing a Greece-Lebanon trip. We could do Greece first, flying into and then out of Athens to Lebanon, but it seems to me to make more sense to just do one continuous swoop, from Athens through the islands to Rhodes/Crete to Cyprus to Lebanon, preferably all by boat, for cost and "adventure" reasons.
