Welcome to the UK, described by Lonely Planet in the latest UK guide as "simply one of the most beautiful islands on earth". You'll find that whilst people can appear flippant and/or sarcastic on this branch, it's only part of the unique British sense of humour so don't take it personally.

Please read this thread first before you ask a question, hopefully you'll find your answer already inside!

Feel free to add anything relevant to the thread too. Before we start though, here's some advice from…

Hi there!

I'm travelling round the UK and will be in London for a few weeks.
Does anyone know of any good apps or websites which help you find part time work?
Ideally as a waiter in a restaurant or work in a pub.
I have a British passport.

Hello everyone,

I'm surprising my wife with a trip to Ireland in the middle of May, 2017. I've designed a trip to suit our interests, but I was wondering if I'm cramming too many things into 8 days. Day 2 -…

I need to know whether one can travel independently like this without prior booking and manage to find camping spots at short notice at this time of the year in England, Scotland and Ireland.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi guys,

I'm working myself through all the gems in London. Interested to know what your favourite, preferably not touristy, food markets are? So far, I totally love Maltby Street Market and the Street Feast ones. Looking forward to hear your thoughts.

Cheers!

Hi - has anyone used one of those "sleeping pods" on the Aberdeen to Lerwick trip on NorthLink ferries? Are they comfortable for a night's sleep, more or less? I'm trying to decide whether to book a 4 bed inner room, or one of the (cheaper) pods. If they go completely flat they'll most likely be fine...

Thanks - Andrew

I am looking for other travelers to share a car trip around the stone circles in the Lake District. I have posted on couchsurfing, can anyone recommend any websites for this kind of networking?

Cheers!
