Welcome to the UK, described by Lonely Planet in the latest UK guide as "simply one of the most beautiful islands on earth". You'll find that whilst people can appear flippant and/or sarcastic on this branch, it's only part of the unique British sense of humour so don't take it personally.

Please read this thread first before you ask a question, hopefully you'll find your answer already inside!

Feel free to add anything relevant to the thread too. Before we start though, here's some advice from…

Hello Everyone,

I will be in London next week. Does anyone have ideas, bars, places to see other than the ones the world knows about? Please do share!

I'm looking to travel to the UK next year for two months. This will be my first time travelling out of NZ. I'll be travelling solo. What's some recommendations for non-touristy places/sites to visit? Want to expirence all of the U.K., not just the tourist parts?

Hello! While in London, I will be visiting some American military friends stationed at Alconbury British Base. What is the best way to get there from London city(obviously train, but suggested route??) Also, after leaving Alconbury, I am headed to Edinburgh for 3 days, so what is the best train route for this to get a fast train? Thanks in advance!

Day plans

My best friend and I (both 25) will be staying in London for 7 days in May 2016. We would love suggestions on how to organize our days, what things to visit in the same day, how long to plan for each place, etc. Below is a list of our must see places, but we are open to other places too if anyone has suggestions! We are staying off of Spring Street by Italian Gardens on edge of Hyde Park. We have 2 day tours away from London, so we really only have 5 full days available and 2 half days because…

I realize we’ll be driving several hours every day and staying in different cities every night. I will avoid night time driving (10pm sunset in June). Should I move the driving between cities to the end of each day instead of beginning? Should I get GPS or are maps and signage sufficient? I’m trying to select the best of natural beauty, castles and culture for the time I’ll be there. If this is still unrealistically crunched for time, please advise what to pull out. Additional help and…

Hi

I will be in Dublin for work this July and want to hop over to Manchester to see my family before flying back from Dublin to Vienna on my "work-paid" flight ;-) What's the cheapest (and ideally most luggage-friendly) way of doing this? I have found flights on Ryanair from DUB-MAN for €90 return, Eurolines ferry/coach for €61 return (overnight), and train/ferry für €88 return. Anyone got any other ideas? Obviously Ryanair is the quickest and most convenient (in theory!) but I will be going to…

I'm heading to Belfast for a wedding late-April. Flying to London the weekend before, which gives me a full week to travel. Am half British myself so had grandparents in the Cotswolds (beautiful) and I spent three years studying in Wales. Otherwise, not actually traveled much around the country (brief visits to Lake and Peak Districts).

I'm tempted by Isle of Man simply because "it's there" and fits in nicely en-route to Northern Ireland. Don't know when i'd have another excuse to visit…

Good evening, I wanted to point that the company Altair Astro Norwich is' cheating their customers online as collects the money of the commercial customer orders and not send the goods. Be careful.
