Welcome to the UK, described by Lonely Planet in the latest UK guide as "simply one of the most beautiful islands on earth". You'll find that whilst people can appear flippant and/or sarcastic on this branch, it's only part of the unique British sense of humour so don't take it personally.

Please read this thread first before you ask a question, hopefully you'll find your answer already inside!

Feel free to add anything relevant to the thread too. Before we start though, here's some advice from…

I am planning a solo journey that includes England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Of course I would like to use a local sim card in my smartphone and have researched on this topic some of the available ones. Would someone be kind enough to let me know which of the providers have the best coverage because I will be using it for maps a lot of the time so I don't get lost.

Kind regards,
Jessebel

Greetings all!

I'd like some suggestions please. I'm currently planning for my honeymoon trip from 21 May to 3 June. I'm heading into London on 21 May, around 7PM, and heading out from Amsterdam on 3 June, around 5PM.

Currently our itinerary is still very flexible. We are thinking of spending the first 3 full-days in London, taking advantage of the London Pass. A lot of reviews are telling me that the pass isn't worth it but at 3 days I think its a pretty good deal? We do plan to see 2-3…

Second question any suggestions on how long to stay there before maybe moving to Glasgow, to the coast , or Highlands, etc. I've never been to Scotland any suggestions would be…

Hi, I'm a mid-twenties girl from Korea and getting ready for a year in Ireland.
I got a working holiday visa this year and can stay and work in any city - I'm attracted to Cork and Galway!
Dublin would be the biggest & busiest city I guess, but I want somewhere more peaceful, green and Irish.

The thing is, I wonder about the safety and atmosphere. Of course I heard A LOT how kind Irish people are and how safe the country is, but for me, it's first time to live alone in Europe and need some advice…

If there is a train strike the day I want to travel does it mean that there is a reduced service or do no trains run at all that day.

If there is a reduced service am I able to board some other train from the same company using the ticket I bought for the cancelled train? I understand I might have to stand up!
