Welcome to the UK, described by Lonely Planet in the latest UK guide as "simply one of the most beautiful islands on earth". You'll find that whilst people can appear flippant and/or sarcastic on this branch, it's only part of the unique British sense of humour so don't take it personally.

I'll be in London tomorrow evening (Saturday) and need to get from Paddington to Ludgate Hill (closeish to Blackfriars tube) at around 6 p.m. Speed has priority over cost. It's 10 stops on the circle line plus about a 15 minute walk. Which is likely to be quicker - taking the tube or getting a taxi? Thanks!
In January of 2011 and January of 2013 I was denied entry into the UK at Heathrow airport (I'm American). I was detained, questioned for hours, it was all very upsetting and still makes me scared today. Both times I was attempting to visit my partner who lived there. As I've been reading, UK customs see that automatically as a red flag. The second time I attempted to visit, I applied for a visa and got denied. I still took the trip as I was desperate to see him, and I had loads of documentation…

I am an indian citizen and has recently charged with a DUI. I paid a fine and got away with a one month driving restriction. My firm wants me to move to UK for work and will be applying for Tier II General Visa. Please could you let me know the chances of visa issuance. The DUI conviction happened last month and is a very first offense I ever got into. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated
So it'll take 20 years atleast before the first plane lands (allowing for protests, appeals and building delays with cost over runs) and by then it will be "Well, we're going to be at capacity in five years, what now?"
Never mind that is the worst major first world airport in the world.
This December I will be visiting London for 7 days. I luckily have friends in that area, and one has even offered to let me stay with them. However, I am worried that immigration might get suspicious about my situation and potentially not allow me in. I have heard about situations in which girls weren't allowed into the country to see their boyfriends because they didn't have enough evidence to support that they weren't just illegally immigrating. While the friend I am staying with is not my…
