Welcome to the UK, described by Lonely Planet in the latest UK guide as "simply one of the most beautiful islands on earth". You'll find that whilst people can appear flippant and/or sarcastic on this branch, it's only part of the unique British sense of humour so don't take it personally.

Please read this thread first before you ask a question, hopefully you'll find your answer already inside!

Feel free to add anything relevant to the thread too. Before we start though, here's some advice from…

We are looking at 7-8 days in Ireland coming to or from my wife's hometown in Spain in June. She was an Au Pair in Dublin 40 yeas ago so will want to show me things. But then we would go to one or maybe two places. We would prefer public transportation but could rent a car. We like history, culture and natural beauty. What suggestions do folks have?

Hello. I'm from Moldova and I'm doing a project on the subject "English -Speaking Countries -the best places to live in" and will be very nice if a native English speaker does a video (15-20 seconds) where he will talk about why does he enjoy his country. (will be also great if he says the name of my country too to show that this video was done for this project). I will be very very thankful. I know that not many people would like to do something like this for a stranger, but I hope that you…

Hi Guys,

I'm travelling and working for a year. With my main base as the UK for work and i hope to travel in between around Europe.

I'm arriving in Birmingham next month does anyone know any good agencies that recruit for the hospitality industry. I've worked in restaurants, catering and your general bar work before.

Any suggestion where i should look please? :)

Hello I will take the railway to Bristol arriving at 09:30 and depart at 15:00.

I have had a look at the tourism website. I would like to see the SS Great Britain and the Clifton Bridge. I am interested in the harbourfront and possibly seeing the street with the longest set of independent shops in the UK.

Is this all possible?

Hello,

I will be backpacking for a year with my partner starting from July in Spain and heading out of Spain at the end of August/ beginning of September this year. We plan on taking £10,000 (5k each). After Spain, our budget will probably be around £8,500 (We have family there we can stay cheap, hence not that much to stay in Spain for 1-2 months)

We have a plan of backpacking through South East Asia starting around January (best for weather etc). However, the problem we have is what we do…

We are spending 4 days with our son, daughter in-law and grandson in London from 17th to 21st July. We then pick up a hire car and travel from London to Edinburgh, where we are staying on the 1st and 2nd of August, before flying out on the 3rd August.

We are interested natural, historical and literary based destinations. I am aware that our time is limited and restricts what we can see. One place I would like to include is Dumbarton in Scotland as this is where my forbears came from and also a…

We are completing a conducted tour of Ireland & Scotland that finishes at the end of August. We then intend to self drive from Edinburgh to London in eighteen days. We have not visited the UK before and would appreciate some advice on which routes to take, places to stay and what to see during this time frame.
