Wanting to book ticket and save 33% to 50%, but requires long 20hr layover (and change of airlines easily resolved).
The 17% saving (50% to 33%) can be achieved by booking 2 separate tickets (on same airline) vs 1 single ticket ... go fiure Kenya AIrways! i think it's the lower taxes in Ghana
(a) wishful thinking ... book flight (on 2nd airline) 45 MINUTES after arrival, but if initial flight late ==> uh oh, risk too great.
(b) i'm n Sudan, going to SOuth SUdan .... no Ghana…
Has anyone recently crossed the boarder between Ghana (Paga) and Burkina Faso (Leo) and knows how much visa's cost. Everyone says it cheaper to get a visa in Accra or Kumasi. However, as I am based in Tamale it will cost me to get to Accra/Kumasi or use a travel agent. As such, I am trying to find out the cost of the visa at the boarder.
The specific visa I am interested in is a 12 month multi-entry visa.
I am travelling all thru West Africa - mid June for 3/4 weeks
Hoping that the tourist numbers will be down then - but rain & humidity not too high!
- is there any logic in travelling from the North or South 1st etc - to avoid the on-coming (& worsening) rain & humidity?
ie which countries are likely to be getting worst 1st?
Any places to avoid?
Grey skies make for poor photos too!
What's the latest situation on bus from Accra to Cape Coast. Bart guide seems to say STC buses are not really running? Are there frequent busses from Accra to Cape Coast on a Saturday afternoon? Or will I have to leave in the morning?
I will spend 35 days in Ghana next month, and to my understand it is quite common that Ghana Travelers also seize the opportunity to see Togo and Benin as well.
Could someone who has done such a trip recommend how much time it is warranted to spend at each country?
I would imagine that you would spend most time in Ghana, but about how many days in Togo and Benin to at least get some feel about them? Is Togo and Benin very similar so it might be best to settle for one of them, or different enough…
Friends we are planning to visit IC on 10-11 may, and also want to goto accra by road route or train if available.

Hi all, I thought a recap would be helpful for people as I wish I had a lot of this info when I started researching and the Bradt guide (my Ghana bible) is outdated in many ways.
We flew out of Heathrow Friday, March 18 and stayed for two nights at Access Inn in Osu. I highly recommend it as a budget place- you can check out my reviews on TripAdvisor and Booking.com. It's a 5-6 cedi taxi ride from the inn to Oxford Street. The inn also provides airport pickup. The staff is helpful, especially…
I'm looking to spend a few days in the Volta region of Ghana.
My main question is - am I better off basing myself in Ho? OR should head straight to one of the small towns, like Amedzofe?
Any tips would be helpful! Planning to crossover from Kpalime in Togo.
My good friend and I, Wendy, have had a trip planned from Ghana to Senegal/the Gambia for a while now, but, what with recent terror attacks etc. we are a little concerned now that our original planned route may not be the safest. We were planning to go from Ghana through Burkina Faso, Mali and then into Senegal/the Gambia. However, is this no longer an option? Too risky?
Our flights are already booked to Ghana in June and then from the Gambia at the beginning of August.
