This country-style retreat across from a cemetery in leafy southern Leipzig is a pleasant antidote to a busy day on the tourist track. The Battle of Nations Monument and various natural attractions are within walking distance.
It may not be impressive at first, but there are plenty of comfort factors that make the Diani a desirable base of operations. The 71 rooms have a clean, uncluttered feel, are very quiet and come in three sizes. Most occupy a modern annexe docked to the listed main building that happens to be the birth house of one of the owners. This is where you find the reception, the restaurant and two apartments with kitchens reached via a lovely wooden staircase. In the morning, head to the light-flooded wintergarten to fuel up on coffee, hot and cold dishes and as much sparkling wine as you feel like guzzling. Recent renovations include the addition of a sauna and a fitness room.
