  1. A

    Flowerpower

It’s party time any time at this long-running super-psychedelic flashback to the '60s (cool pinball machines). Admission is always free and the music tends to be older than the crowd. If you've overdone it, you can even crash upstairs for the night for €7.50.

  2. B

    Reisekneipe

Down a few Czech lagers in an African hut or put away a plate of curry in a Siberian log cabin at this travel-bug clinic. Hardened globetrotters give midweek slide-show talks.

  3. C

    Café 100

One of the first pubs in the Neustadt to open after the Wende, Cafe 100 does double duty as a studenty pub on the ground floor and a candle-lit wine bar in the cavernous cellar. Jazz fans invade during the twice-monthly jam sessions.

    naTo

The mother of Leipzig’s alternative-music pub-clubs, with jazz, experimental and indie sounds alongside films and theatre. Great outdoor seating in summer.

  5. E

    Noels Ballroom

McCormacks has renamed itself but the high-octane vibe, foamy pints of Guinness and lovely flower-filled beer garden still make Noels one of the best Irish pubs in town. Great for meeting locals testing their trivia acumen on Tuesdays' quiz night (in English).
