Curry
In this vibrant little kitchen, sausage is king. Get them big, spicy, hot and paired with your choice of gourmet sauce and possibly a mountain of fresh French fries. At lunchtime trendy types from the nearby Medienhafen offices invade.

En de Canon
Similar to Zum Schiffchen with a jovial beer garden in summer.
-
Im Füchschen
Noisy, cavernous, packed - the Füchschen (which translates as 'Little Fox') is all you expect a Rhenish beer hall to be. They make a mean Schweinshaxe (roast pork leg) but there's plenty of less challenging fare on the menu as well.

Libanon Express
A great way to prepare the stomach for an extended pub crawl is by filling up on superb falafel sandwiches at Libanon Express.

Robert's Bistro
Tables are squished together as tightly as lovers in this très French restaurant in the Medienhafen. Bring an appetite for hearty Gallic fare, a tolerance for smoke, and patience - they don't take reservations and a queue is pretty much guaranteed.

Zum Schiffchen
This is similar to En de Canon but has the distinction of being Düsseldorf's oldest restaurant ('since 1628'). One wonders if the portions were as huge when Napoleon or Heinrich Heine dropped by a few centuries back.
