If you want to see dad turn into a little kid, take him to what may well be (as they claim) the world’s largest model railway. Digitally controlled S-Bahn, regional and ICE trains zip between Berlin landmarks – Brandenburger Tor to Fernsehturm – all re-created in amazing detail on a scale of 1:87. The details are particularly charming. A computer-controlled traffic system steers trucks, cars, and even a fire engine careening towards a building on fire, and there’s also an airport where tiny airplanes noisily land and take off.
