Fashion shopping in Berlin

    Sameheads

The Sameheads, that’s Nathan, Leo and Harry, are three 20-something brothers from Britain keen on carving out a spot for true subculture through their fashion and music network. Their basement shop is a portal for around 30 up-and-coming local designers from around the globe. While there, probe them for details on their next underground party.

    Killerbeast

Killerbeast ‘Kill uniformity’ is the motto of this unique boutique where Claudia and her colleagues make new clothes from old ones right in the back of the store. No two pieces are alike and prices are very reasonable, so pick up one of her creations if you’re a fan of that dressed-down Berlin look.

    14oz

Stylistas worship at the altar of 14oz, a sleek concept store brought to you by the organisers of the Bread & Butter fashion fair. Join them in circling for premier denim by Citizens of Humanity and PRPS, far-out fashions by Velvet and Lot 78, and bold necklaces by King Baby, all under one impossibly chic but slightly snooty roof.

    Overkill

What started as a graffiti magazine back in 1992 has evolved into one of Germany’s top spots for streetwear. Now with four times the space, there’s a mind-boggling selection of limited-edition sneakers by Onitsuka Tiger, Converse and Asics alongside import threads by cult labels Stüssy, Carhartt and Rocksmith.

    Respectmen

RespectMen’s body-conscious contemporary suiting help maketh the man, and the accoutrements found here – from socks to ties, with a rainbow’s worth of well-cut shirts adding some colour – round off the youthful look. Besides the house label, outfits by other select designers grace racks and shelves, including K Karl Lagerfeld.

    Lala Berlin

Former MTV editor Leyla Piedayesh makes top-flight women’s fashion that flatters both the twig-thin and the well-upholstered. Check out the elegant knitwear in jewel-like hues or her witty takes on logo-obsession via a collection of soft, sensuous scarves. Her fan base includes Claudia Schiffer.

    Uko Fashion

High quality at low prices is the magic formula that has garnered this uncluttered clothing store a loyal clientele. It’s a veritable gold mine for the latest girl threads by Pussy Deluxe and Muchacha, second-hand items from Esprit to Zappa and hot-label samples by Vero Moda, only and boyco.

    Herr Von Eden

Over a decade of ensuring that Berlin’s dandies look the part has made this store a must-visit for chaps looking to make an impression. Fabrics, cuts, colours, details – all are designed to release the inner peacock and help you strut your stuff in style. Prices are high, but so are the standards.

    Faster, Pussycat!

Russ Meyer’s 1965 camp classic about go-go dancers gone bad inspired the store’s name, and fashions here definitely teeter towards the outlandish. But there’s also plenty of smart streetwear and accessories by Skunkfunk, Gsus, Pace, Alprausch and other label-bunny favourites.

    Uvr Connected

This deceptively large space holds what seems to be 1001 local and international streetwear labels by and for bright young things. Kit yourself out from top to bottom – the range includes hats, hoodies, T-shirts, dresses, jeans, shoes and jewellery, much of it with an edge or a twist.
