Berlin

Clothing shopping in Berlin

  1. A

    Molotow

This shop originally opened in 1986 as Molotow boutique to promote fashion made in Berlin by fledgling designers. With time it became obvious that owner Ute Hentschel’s interesting patterns and fabric choices were the main attraction and it’s now her own showroom, where you pick the garment and she’ll alter it so it fits perfectly.

    Thatchers

Berlin fashion veterans Ralf Hensellek and Thomas Mrozek specialise in well-tailored clothing that’s feminine and versatile. Their smart dresses, skirts and shirts look almost plain on the rack but are transformed when worn into the sort of stylish garments that go from office to dinner to nightclub – and not hurriedly out of fashion.

    Overkill

What started as a graffiti magazine back in 1992 has evolved into one of Germany’s top spots for sneakers and streetwear. Browse an entire wall of limited editions by such cult purveyors as Onitsuka Tiger, Converse and Asics (including vegan versions) alongside import threads by Stüssy, KidRobot, Cake, MHI and plenty of other hip labels.

    Eisdieler

Cool as ice cream, the urban street-wear designed by this co-op is as tasty as the gelati that were once sold in the store before it was reincarnated as a clothes shop. Find T-shirts, jeans and other clothes created under the Eisdieler label, plus good hoodies by quidproquo and shiny frocks by local label presque fini.

    Yoshiharu Ito

This Tokyo-trained couturier has built his considerable reputation on putting an inventive, personal spin on classic cuts, which are perfectly tailored and made of high-quality, sober-coloured fabric. Men’s clothing is his main strength, but his women’s line turns heads as well.
