Lonely Planet review

If you value location over luxury, this fast-growing budget designer chain makes for an excellent crash pad. Smallish rooms come with up-to-the-minute touches (flat-screen TVs, granite counters, massage showerheads, air-con) that are normally the staples of posher players. Arne Jacobsen's turquoise egg chairs accent the hip lobby. This is the most central of eight Motel One properties, including one at Zoo station and another at Hauptbahnhof. Check the website for details. Optional breakfast is €7.50.

Our independent authors have visited Motel One Berlin-Alexanderplatz and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Mitte - Scheunenviertel.
