Lonely Planet review

Sip steaming tea poured from silvery samovars while reclining amid plump pillows, hand-carved sandalwood pillars and heroic murals in this original Tajik tearoom. A 1974 gift from the Soviets to the East German government, it is tucked upstairs in an elegant 18th-century town palace that was once a German-Soviet cultural centre.
