Melitta is named for a famous Berlin singer, writer and queen who died of AIDS in 1993. The cheerful cafe with an ’80s pedigree draws much of its fan base from the gay crowd but it is really a comfy lair for all with excellent coffee and homemade cakes. Check the website for upcoming free unplugged concerts in the ‘bel étage’.
