Berliner Philharmonie information
This world-famous concert hall has supreme acoustics and, thanks to Hans Scharoun’s terraced vineyard configuration, not a bad seat in the house. It’s the home turf of the Berliner Philharmoniker, who will be led by Sir Simon Rattle until 2018. One year later, Russia-born Kirill Petrenko will pick up the baton as music director.
Chamber-music concerts take place at the adjacent Kammermusiksaal. From September to June, free lunchtime concerts take place in the foyer of the Philharmonie at 1pm on Tuesdays.
