If you want to ‘do’ the royal castles on a day trip from Munich (€19.80, two hours) you’ll need to start early. The first train leaves Munich at 4.57am, getting to Füssen at 7.24am. Later trains depart at roughly 10 minutes to the hour, but always check schedules before you go.
