    Blog: The Adventures of D - 18 October 2011

If there is one thing I miss when living in the desert — even if October is simply divine weather-wise — it is fall. Growing up on the east coast in Maryland, a favorite pastime was raking all of the leaves that fell from the trees each autumn. My dad would rake them up into [...]

Blog: Kiva Stories from the Field - 4 October 2011

By DJ Forza, KF16, Georgia It was a gorgeous autumnal morning in Tbilisi, when we set out for Rustavi; Georgia's third largest city. As we drove east towards Azerbaijan, I was struck by the dramatic change in scenery during our short 30 minute drive to deliver a Kiva training at one of Credo's newest branch offices. Not only did we leave behind the verdant landscape, there were no charming cobblestone streets or European architecture to be found. Instead, we entered an urban desert and what seemed like hundreds of crumbling soviet-style cement apartment blocks and abandoned factories.

Blog: La Tortuga Viajera - 25 August 2011

And while we’re clarifying – forget about peaches, today it’s all about watermelons. But first, a little background. One of my dearest friends living in Spain hails from the Republic of Georgia – that small, oblong, post-Soviet country, which nudges up against the Black Sea. The democracy, which regained its independence in 1991, continues to [...]

Their loans took the longest to get funded and expired most often. I was not surprised. After all, “Transportation”, being at the end of the Sector list on Kiva also competes with attention-grabbers like “Agriculture”, “Food”, “Housing” and “Retail” that precede it.
