Bus

From the bus station (Gare Routière Sud; rue de l’Industrie), adjoining the train station, the Billetterie Crolard (04 50 45 08 12; www.voyages-crolard.com; 7.15am-12.30pm & 1.45-7.30pm Mon-Sat, Sun in peak seasons) sells tickets for hourly buses to other lakeside destinations including Menthon (€2.10, 20 minutes) and Talloires (€2.90, 30 minutes), and for local ski resorts La Clusaz (€10, 50 minutes) and Le Grand Bornand (€10, 60 minutes). The January-to-March day-trips it runs to La Clusaz/Le Grand Bornand (€25/27 including lift pass) are particularly good value. It also runs up to five buses daily to/from Lyon-St-Exupéry airport (one way/return €30/45).

Next door, Autocars Frossard (04 50 45 73 90; 7.45-11am & 2-7.15pm Mon-Fri, 7.45am-1pm Sat) sells tickets for Geneva (€10.30, 1¾ hours, up to 12 daily), Thonon (€14.90, 1¾ hours, twice daily) and Évian (€17.40, 2¼ hours, twice daily); and a bus four times weekly to/from Nice (€66.50, 9¼ hours) via Chambéry (€9.20, one hour) and Grenoble (€16.60, two hours).

Train

From the train station (place de la Gare), there are frequent trains to/from Aix-les-Bains (€6.50, 30 minutes), Chambéry (€8.20, 50 minutes), St-Gervais (€18.40, 3¼ hours), Lyon (€20.50, 2¼ hours) and Paris’Gare de Lyon (€109, 3¾ hours).

Air

From Annecy’s small airport (04 50 27 30 06; www.annecy.aeroport.fr in French; 8 rte Côte Merle), north of the city in Meythet, Air France operates daily flights to/from Paris’ Orly Ouest (€220, 1¼ hours).
