Introducing Quercy

Southeast of the Dordogne département lies the warm, unmistakably southern region of Quercy, many of whose residents still speak Occitan (Provençal). The dry limestone plateau in the northeast is covered with oak trees and riddled with canyons carved by the serpentine River Lot. The main city of Cahors is surrounded by some of the region’s finest vineyards.
