Lonely Planet review
Sophisticated, central and decorated with an eye for detail, the rooms in this hotel are themed according to exotic locales such as Mexico, India, Morocco, Japan and Africa. The dining room with its high ceilings and seven French windows promises a grand start to the day.
From the top: the uppermost (5th) floor rooms have a Mexican theme, with adobe-style walls and red hand-stencilled friezes, up here you'll also find the two gorgeous terrace rooms with timber decks and panoramic views over the port. Fourth floor rooms are done out 'days of the Raj' Indian style, with purple bed heads and mosaic bathrooms. On the 3rd floor, rooms take you on an African safari, with gold and brown tones, evocative black-and-white photographs, and dark wood bathroom vanities with Villeroy & Boch basins. The 2nd floor Moroccan rooms have striking sky-blue bathrooms and carved timber detailing. First floor rooms transport you to Japan, with paper light fittings and sumptuous red curtains. You won't find anything like it in Marseille. Request to move rooms during your stay to try out more than one style.
