Lonely Planet review
Avignon’s top hotel occupies a converted 16th-century palace, with dramatic interiors decked in oriental rugs, gold-threaded tapestries, marble staircases and over-the-top Gallic style. Low-end rooms are small but still conjure the feeling of staying overnight in someone’s private château. Its restaurant, Le Marmiton , is a slow and glittering affair and also offers cooking classes (from €90).
Le Marmiton has a twice-weekly chef’s table (reservations essential); afternoon tea is served (albeit slowly) in the lobby or garden.
Our independent authors have visited La Mirande and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Avignon.
