Lonely Planet review for Musée Marmottan-Monet

This museum, two blocks east of the Bois de Boulogne between Porte de la Muette and Porte de Passy, has the world’s largest collection of works by impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840–1926) – about 100 – as well as paintings by Gauguin, Sisley, Pissarro, Renoir, Degas, Manet and Berthe Morisot. It also contains an important collection of French, English, Italian and Flemish miniatures from the 13th to the 16th centuries.

It's the Monet Museum without the Monet's

    mrgfrobinson does not recommend this,

Visited my favorite museum in the world for the 4th time in 7 years on 22 April 2011. All the wonderful water lily paintings are gone and there is an exposition of another artist. You can see Monet's Impression Sunrise plus 20 or so second rate other Monet's on the first floor and that's it. Still a beautiful museum with lots of interesting stuff but can you imagine Sydney Harbor without the Bridge and the Opera House?

An absolute gem! Really gorgeous art.

What's more, the museum is located right next to a lovely park: Bois de Boulogne, where you can relax before or after your visit. On sunny days, you will find Parisians enjoying a good jog here, or racing their remote controlled boats in the lake.
