This place goes to great lengths to describe itself as café, restaurant, library, bar and salon de thé, but for us it’s a place to eat and/or people-watch. It is intended for writers – there are more than 5000 books on hand and it’s done up to feel like a slightly faded and dingy library – but it has floor-to-ceiling windows through which you can watch the Germanopratin (yes, there is an adjective for St-Germain des Prés) goings-on. Breakfasts and Sunday brunch are big here.

    Avoid at any cost

    Avoid at any cost....I have been many times in les editeurs. Today was the last one for me. I ordered a chicken with gnocchi which was quite expensive anyway. When I started eating, I noticed something on one of the gnocchis. A cockroach!!! When I asked politely the waiter "Excuse me, but what is this" he picked up the plate, gave a neutral look at it and just vanished with the plate. Not a single apology. He ask me if I wanted to choose something else and got a salad nicoise (at 16 euros, not that cheap). My friend told him, for such a place, its inexcusable, and the health department should be there he didn't blink an eye...which for me indicates this wasn't their first time.Of course they charged me for the salad, and in the receipt the cockroach plate was written as offered. Service: 1 star, Dishes: 0 stars. Avoid at any cost!!!!!
