Land

Bus

Caen-based Bus Verts du Calvados (08 10 21 42 14) runs frequent services from the bus station (behind the train station) to Honfleur (€6.16, 30 minutes), Deauville-Trouville (€8.80, 1¾ hours) and Caen (€17.60, 2½ hours). There are also four daily express buses (two on Sundays) to Caen (€19.40, 1½ hours) via Honfleur.

CNA (08 25 07 60 27) runs daily buses to Rouen (€13, 2½ hours).

Autocars Gris (02 35 22 34 00) has 10 buses daily to Le Havre (€7.50, 1½ hours) via Étretat (one hour) and five on Sunday.

Train

Le Havre’s train station (cours de la République) is east of the city centre. Chief destinations are Rouen (€12.40, one hour, 12 to 15 daily) and Paris’ Gare St-Lazare (€26.70, 2¼ hours, at least 15 daily). A secondary line goes north to Fécamp (€7.20, 1¼ hours, 10 to 12), sometimes with a change at Bréauté-Beuzeville.

Boat

LD Lines (in France 08 25 30 43 04, in UK 0870 428 4335; www.ldlines.co.uk; Terminal de la Citadelle) is the main ferry operator, offering an afternoon service from Le Havre to Portsmouth, and an overnight crossing that goes in the opposite direction. It is based in the Terminal de la Citadelle on av Lucien Corbeaux, which is 1km south of the train station.

Air

The airport (02 35 54 65 00; www.havre.aeroport.fr), 6km north of town in Octeville-sur-Mer, has daily flights to Lyon, Brighton and Jersey.
